Prince Harry, Meghan Markle stay silent on Sussex Day as critics demand action

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing fresh backlash for staying silent on Sussex Day as calls for them to be stripped of their titles gain momentum.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex only visited Sussex in 2018 and has not returned since then despite Sussex day being celebrated on June 16.

Harry and Meghan, who now live in California, have shown little connection to the place they’re named after despite holding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles since their 2018 wedding.

In a conversation with Daily Mail, Former Sussex MP Tim Loughton criticised the couple for using their Royal title and not wishing the residents of Sussex on July 16.

“Yet again the interest of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the county from which they continue to use their title has been underwhelming to say the least,” he said.

“It is time we had a Duke of Sussex who has a genuine interest in our County and wishing Sussex residents a happy Sussex Day is hardly a tall order.

“They rarely visited Sussex even before they abandoned the UK for California and on our County Day today they have again shown no interest in Sussex”.
